Pythagorous and the North Atlantic

Ocean Adventures

Chapitite 1

After a terrible war that King Argolotus lost, King Maldukar had power to summon a dreadful beast on King Argolotus’ land. Every month the awful beast (named Eilrahc) came and ruined crops, stole precious fuel, and destroyed homes, but worst of all he ate sixty-five people big or small, pretty or ugly, he didn’t care as long as it was sixty-five people.

People were now starting to complain or leave the city state because the smaller the numbers, the more chance of them dying. After ten years of this madness, King Argolotus sent out a last chance saloon, blind dog message to the city state, asking for a hero. If this hero did not turn up before the next attack – in 24 days – Argolotus would burn his kingdom like a dummy Guy Fawkes on Bonfire night. The king was pleading for a hero as if he was a dirty murderer saying, “It was manslaughter I’m innocent!”

When King Argolotus’ knights were announcing the message they described the kingdom as a bull ring with the people being tormented more and more. Thank the gods that one man heard this and a cheeky, happy smile rose upon his face, while his heart was pumping pure delight and his toes were tingling with excitement. Whilst he was sprinting down the dusty, cobble path, he noticed another man, whom he thought had the same idea as himself.

When he got home he took a piece of paper and a quill then got to work. Soon the letter got sent to the king and Pythagerous left himself nervously waiting. As scared as a cow at a slaughter house, he waited silently at the great market. The hero was soon announced, suddenly a little sprout shot up to an ear to ear grin on Pythagerous’ humble face. He was a little girl skipping in a lush, green meadow with the most amazing flowers surrounding him, there was that much joy in him. However, now it was time to prepare, he had a big quest in front of him.

Chapitite 2

Eventually, after a long time of planning, Pythagoras said to the king,

“I won’t be back for the next attack, as I need search for equipment to kill Eilrahc.” King Argolotus knew he had to agree, then gave him the bravest and toughest men in his empire (or what was left of it). Daringly, King Argolotus gambled by giving him the most expensive ship in Greece.

Soon Pythagerous and his men set sail to South America where they could find the ingredients to poison Eilrahc, drugs. On the ship everything was beautiful, all the wooden planks were glazed finely. The sails had spectacular silk woven by the ladies of Athens, who gave it to King Argolotus many years ago.

When they were near their destination they came across two massive cliffs with a narrow passage in the middle of them. The only way through would be the gap, but there was one slight problem, and Pythagerous knew what it was. Once you were in the passage, the rocks started to come in against you, the only way you could go through was going at top speed with the current on your side to gain extra speed. Annoyingly, the currents were against them, although the thing was, if they stayed where they were and set camp for the night they would freeze to death.

Pythagerous ordered a big burst through the rocks; it is said that if you make it through the first 200 yards it is a heck of a lot easier from then onwards. Awkwardly, Pythagerous shouted “charge!” then they started flying through the waves like a speed boat going out for its first ride.

The boat was approaching the first 200 yards, the crew started partying. When they did make it to the 200 yard mark, it was easy. what was said was right. Now all there was, was a 500 yard cruise to the end in which they would have five hours (when it got dark) to complete. The cliffs wouldn’t crunch together, there was no rush, this was the life.

Chapitite 3

Madly, a hydra appeared out of nowhere and climbed aboard the ship. Its red eyes were glaring in fury, and all five heads had a sharp tooth smile that could scare Hercules. Petrified, one person screamed, the beast slashed out its tail and whacked him. Its green scaly, skin gave the poor man cuts all over, and when he got hit by the hydra’s tail, his head smacked against the mast and gave him brain damage. Then it got worse; two other people screamed and paid the same price. The crew were terrified lest all of them should be killed by the hydra. Sweating, Pythagoras realised that he would have to kill the hydra; he got his sword and crept up behind the Hydra and then pulled back his sword…

All the crew gasped with anticipation except for the people with brain damage who started singing,

“Tra la la la la la, who likes pigs? Tra la la la la la I like pigs!” This was when the hydra noticed that something was going on so he turned round and saw Pythagoras. Immediately, the hydra spat a fireball out of his mouth; Pythagoras just managed to jump out of the way. Annoyed, the hydra went to splurt out another fireball. Sadly for him, he had a rock in his throat, thrown in by one of the crew members, so he got the fire trapped in his throat and set himself alight. The hydra’s heart and lungs got burnt to a frazzle, so, to cut a long story short, he died.

After this madness, all of the crew were hungry. However there was nothing to eat. Eventually Pythagoras said,

“We’ll have to eat the hydra.” The others complained. One crewman said,

“Erm, I heard that you had to do a dance to make the hydra nice, or it will come back to life and eat you up.” Pythagoras wasn’t sure if that was a little tale for toddlers, he thouht it was like saying, “If you don’t eat your greens the vegetable monster will get you!” Pythagoras was having none of this hoo hah. In the end they didn’t regret eating it because it tasted like gammon.

Once they were through the two cliffs it seemed like an easy ride, infact it couldn’t have been any easier until…

Chapitite 4

They met an evil sorcerer named Draco. He said that he wanted three of Pythagoras’ crew or he would burn the ship and kill them all. Pythagerous asked if there were any brave volunteers. Obviously, no one stood forward. Draco was a fine youth, although if you looked him in the eye and studdied his sly, but muscular body carefully you could tell he was one of the meanest men in Greece. Sighing and weeping, Pythagerous came up with a decision-he knew there was no point arguing sorcerer so-he decided to send the three brain damaged people, even though he would regret for the rest of his life. Pythagerous tried to sail away quickly, but then Draco called out,

“Nice doing business with you!” A smile then slashed across his pale face with his black cape flying high in the wind.

It was obvious Pythageras didn’t want to go on anymore, he was crying his eyes out saying over and over he made the wrong decision. Relieved, the crew landed on the coast of Brazil, they knew their captain would have to come out of his cabin. Reluctantly, Pythagoras pulled away from the muscly arm gripping him, but it was no use; the crew pulled him out onto the beaches of Brazil. On the beach everything changed. Pythagoras became so relaxed. Was it the baby’s bottom soft beach? Or the beauty and views around him? Whatever it was he was in love with it. To him, it was like a man having a hard day at work and then coming home to tea and his favourite meal on the sofa watching TV with his wife. Paradise indeed!

Once most of the novelty wore off, they started to trek into the rainforest and across the Amazon. The rainforest they went through was like another dimension to Pythagoras and his crew, he had never seen anything like it. Green leaves oiled over him, loads of water kept on drenching him, but he was used to much harder conditions so he didn’t mind.

They got to a mountain after eight long days of trekking through the rainforest. They met a few snakes , but Pythagoras’ men killed them. Up on the tip of the mountain, a sweet sounding voice called out,

“Hello down there, do you want to come up?” Pythagoras didn’t know what this meant although he did shout ‘Yes please’ in reply.

Suddenly the ground started to shake and Pythagoras and his men were lifeted into the air, they started floating to the tip of the mountain. In three minutes time they were up at the top. The voice they heard was a fine maiden. She told them that she was the daughter of an air wizard, someone who could do anything in the air. That was how she got them up to the top. The lovely voice asked,

“Why are you here handsome fella?”

“We need drugs to kill this evil beast named Eilrahc.”

“No way, not Eilrahc!”

“What do you mean?”

“Even the gods can’t defeat Eilrahc. I will give you all the help I can, and trust me that’s a lot. Oh, did I forget to mention that my dad’s best friend with Zeus, that will help you on your quest. Plus I know where all the drugs are that you’ll need. I only ask one small request”…

“Well, what?”

“You marry me!”

“Uh…okay”

“You promise?”

“Ur…Yes I do.” Pythagoras didn’t sound half as confident as the beautifully blond haired maiden. He then said,

“I will only marry after the quest and if we succeed.” This was so she didn’t go mad and start sending out wedding invitations to family straight away. Trying to change the conversation, Pythagoras asked,

“Where are the drugs?”

“Right here, Smoochy poochy!”

“Really? We are standing on them?”

“Yes, Cuddle bottom!”

“Oh! And by the way, just call me Pythagoras.”

“Oops, sorry!”

When they had their drugs they said their ‘goodbyes’ and ‘thank yous’. Then the maiden’s dad said,

“Zeus will be watching over you and helping you.”

Finally they left the mountain top. It took twenty five minutes to get to the boat because of the maiden’s magical powers. During the journey, something occurred to Pythagoras; he asked the lady,

“What’s your name?”

“Did I forget to tell you? Well, anyway, it’s Pandora.”

“Oh, what a nice…name!”

The sea was wonderful; a calm breeze, gentle waves splashing against the ship. They were now on their way to finding Eilrahc. Nothing was better than cruising peacefully over the North Atlantic Ocean. Every little gust of wind and spray of water was magnificent, it was like….well it was so good you couldn’t describe it.

Suddenly, the boat shook a little. Pythagoras thought that it was just a small rock they’d hit, but it happened again and again. Awkwardly, the boat started rocking, nerves were spreading around the ship. What could this be? In addition, horrible gurgling noises from below the water were heard. Worryingly, a major rumble shook the boat and it nearly capsized. Then, all of a sudden a mighty creature dashed above the water; it was Eilrahc. His many eyes shone in the sun, his gruesome smile glittered and hissed, the four other heads rose up. The one-eyed heads keot their terrifying looks. Pythagoras tried not to look at the eyes for more than ten seconds, it was hard, but he managed not to. All the crew were gasping with terror, their whole bodies were shaking like lightning had just struck them. They were petrified.

Pythagoras noticed the two smallest heads, they had the meanest eyes ever. One of them shot a blade out of its nose; Pythagoras tried to move out of its way but it still skimmed him on the arm and left him with a bloody cut. The heads looked dry and flaky, but they were as strong as saxon shields. Eilrahc’s body had red stripes running across it, they looked like they could poison you, when in reality they could do something that was even worse: they could paralyse you for twenty years. None of the body looked kind, but then it wasn’t meant to! Half of the crew were willing to surrender, however Pythagoras wouldn’t dare. The green skin looked like a sign saying,“Bog off, I hate you!” It was that inviting!

Everything had turned upside down for Pythagoras, except for one thing. He heard a scream that sounded like Pandora. He was hoping and crossing his fingers that she died. Eventually, Pythagoras plucked up the courage to get te drugs and poison Eilrahc. The thing was Eilrahc only protected his heart so it should be impossible to drug him up. Pyuthagoras and one of his crewmen tried throwing the drugs at Eilrahc. Eilrachc’s response was……well, he ate the crewman up. Unbelievably fortunately, when the crewman had been tracking through the rainforest he had been struck by a tillikore that was now stuck to him. A tillikore is a little insect that, if it got inside Eilrach, would turn his body inside out and guts would splurt everywhere.. So basically, what happened was….well I won’t describe it! Pythagoras saw the man Eilrahc ate. He must’ve swallowed the crewman whole. He smelt funny so Pythagoras thought it would be best to leave him.

They were now sailing just north of the Cape Verde islands on their wat back to Greece with smiling faces all around. When they were approaching the Canary Islands the boat rumbled in the same way when Eilrahc attacked. How could that be? Then the answer clicked in everyone’s minds like the last piece of a jigsaw. Even if Eilrahc’s body turned inside out it didn’t mean that he was dead, he could just heal himself then come back for revenge. Bad news! All the crew were drunk, they thought that Eilrahc was dead. One crewman was even on drugs. When Pythagoras realised, he chucked him overboard.

Again Eilrahc emerged from the water; he was prepared to fight to the death and so was Pythagoras. Eilrachc opened one of his mouths and tried to suck Pythagoras in. Pythagoras darted behind a mast for cover. Next, he jumped out and drew his sword and had a slash at the monster. Eilrahc ducked out of the way. As a response to the move, Eilrahc used one of his noses to try and knock Pythagoras out. However, he didn’t know about the brave hero’s shield. He used it to guard his face from the noxious fumes, then grabbed a cloth to cover his mouth and his nose. Pythagoras found some sharp wood and lobbed it at the main head. Quite a few eyes popped out and blood was pouring everywhere. Eilrahc smashed one of his spiked heads through the planks where Pythagoras was standing. He just managed to jump out of the way, then he pulled out his sword and chopped one of the heads off. Pythagoras put the head in his hands and threw it as hard as he could at Eilrahc’s connection oval. Eilrachc managed to avoid it hitting his vital organ – the connection oval – but instead it hit his heart, another vital organ. Everybody heard a deafening ‘Aaaarrgghhh’, but theyt didn’t care as Eilrahc fell to his death on the sea bed.

All the crew were full of joy, as happy as South africa getting to host the world cup. Pandora, who had earlier managed to avoid death, kept on saying to Pythagoras,

“Ooh, you’re the bravest.” Pythagoras soon had enough of this, he had to find a way to dump her. He couldn’t just say, ‘I dump you’ because she could fly away back toher dad, her dad would tell zues and Pythagoras would be killed. Then something strange happened. One of the crew members came up to pythagoras and said,

“What’s your wish?”

“What do you mean?” Pythagoras replied warily.

“Well, if you kill Eilrahc, you’re allowed a wish.”

“Who from?”

“I dunno, it’s a wish.”

“Cool!”

Pythagoras immediately ordered the crew to stop at the Canary Islands for a aprty to celebrate their victory over Eilrahc.

When they reached the island everyone got drunk except Pythagoras, who had a plan to dump Pandora. Therefore, he couldn’t get drunk. When Pandora was really tipsy, Pythagoras loaded her up with some of the drugs they’d found on the mountain. She went dozy, so every half an hour he gave her more until she fell into a deep sleep.

Te next day Pythagoras told his crew that he had drugged Pandora to the max. He said that they could now get away. Then he made his wish. He wished Pandorawou;d truly suffer and nobody would never know except her, not even the gods. This meant that Pythagoras could get away with Zues watching over him and not knowing.

When they were near home, one sly tubby girl named Piccalo Martin thought it would be funny to start a rumour that Pythagoras had failed. Somehow the rumour got out and King Argolatus burnt his kingdom to pieces. Then the king jumped into the flames and killed himself.

Pythagoras sailed up to the harbour, he couldn’t wait to tell everyone the good news. When he saw the devastation he asked himself,

“What’s going on here?” He heard a sly, tubby little girl giggling, she being stupid and foolish told Pythagoras the whole story. Pythagoras relied ‘okay’ then strangled the girl to death. She was kicking and throwing her arms all over the place; it was no use, she died.

As everyone was dead and the city was in flames, Pythagoras decided to go for a swim. He spent a long time under water, a very long time, a very very long time under water. Slowly, his body emerged from the water, although his eyes were closed and he laid there in the shape of a starfish. Everyone silenced!

Leila’s myth

Leila’s myth is in the Greek style and is epic in scope with some romance thrown in as well.

Deptagon and Antandian

Noble king Eragona sighed. The hideous monster slug, Deptagon, was freely roaming the land of Eragonia. Before, children had scrambled over rocks on the plains without the threat of death at any moment, but now, well that was impossible. Calling to Antandian, a noble young yeoman, he bade him bring the poster calling heroes to the palace.

“Shred it,” he said, waving an airy hand. “There is no hope of heroes now.”

“Oh, no, my lord, we cannot do that!” cried Antandian, horrified. “Although, I do have a plan….”

Two hours later Antandian was walking hurriedly over the grasslands on the outskirts of the city when he met an old man.

“And hello!” said he “I am Antandian, a hero, travelling to slay the monster Deptagon.” For the young man’s plan, a noble plan, had been to travel to Asguard, the monster’s lair, and kill, or else die screaming there.

“I am Iran,” replied the elder, “ I eat heroes for dinner! I cannot let thee pass if thy is not worthy, no?”

“True, but of course I am worthy! I will show thee! I travel far to slay the evil Deptagon!”

“A poisonous snake roams these lands. If you can defeat this reptile you may pass.” Iran, feeling confident of Antandian’s death, led Antandian to a small cave.

Entering, Antandian saw a vicious snake curled on the cold, stone floor. With a blood-curdling war-cry, he raised his sword, and, after a long pause, slayed the wicked beast in one blow. Leaving it dead on the stone, he left, smarting from a snag of the monster’s poisonous jaws. Dipping his wound in magical healing herbs, he confronted the old man.

“I have slayed the beast!” said the hero. “May I pass?”

“Go ahead!” regoiced Iran. “All the land thanks you!” So Antandian carried on with his journey.

When he came to Olympia, home of the gods, Andantian met a beautiful lady.

“I am Janovi, daughter to Athena. I have been waiting for you.” She smiled at him, and he felt safe with her.

As they travelled deeper into the heart of Olympia, Antandian sighted a great palace standing apon a high cliff.

“And who owns that mighty stronghold?” asked he, speaking softly. Janovi smiled. What a handsome young youth this man was!

“That is the castle of your lost father, Herious.”

“No! You cannot speak truly!” Antandian cried in astonishment.

“You can meet him if you wish.”

Andantian plunged towards the palace, wild with exitement. Bursting into the elaborately-decorated hall, he cried,

“Father, I have come!” Herious rose, and, striding towards him, ripped open Antandian’s tunic and showed a birthmark, bright against the pale skin.

“You are indeed my son.” Herious rumbled.

They stayed together for the rest of the day.

Janovi and Andantian became firm friends, and on the morrow Janovi gave Andantian a gift.

It was her mother’s helmet, terrible yet so beautiful, too. Andantian excepted it gratefully.

But Dianous, second son of Zeus, and former lover of Janovi, heard of this, and plotted to kill Janovi because of her betrayal. The night before Janovi’s death, Andantian and Janovi met for one last time. Andantian wished to complete his deadly task, but Janovi wanted him to stay in Olympia. They quarrelled, and parted. Wishing for revenge. Andantian complained bitterly to both Zeus and Hierious, but neither took sides. The next morning Athena woke to find Janovi dead, and, having heard of Andantian’s complaints the night before, she believed it to have been him who killed Janovi, and also who took her wonderous helmet.

She drove him out, and once again he took to wandering the wasteland. But he was near to Deptagon now, so he could not give up. He trudged wearily on, wishing to meet the monster, and one day his wish was granted.

He came to a sandy plateau, and apon that plateau ther was an enormous cave. Creeping silently along the passageway, sword at the ready, he sighted a monsterous creature. Pulling down the visor of Athena’s amazing helmet to keep him safe from the awesome stare of the monster’s hypnotic eyes, he advanced. After a bloody battle he managed to defeat the monster. Ripping off his helmet, Andantian was able to get a closer look at the bloody carcass. It was like a three headed slug, with roots round its middle so it could sink into the ground disguised as tree roots. One mouth was shooting fireballs, while another seemed to be breathing out unhappiness, so Andantian left quickly. Taking Deptagon’s ugly middle head, he started the long journey back to Eragonia.

When he arrived at the city, many people spilled out of their houses to greet him. When they learnt what he had done, and how he was so cruelly treated in Olympia, the citizens were angry. But Andantian calmed them, and nothing was harmed.

But then the chancelor roused him, and, speaking to the crowd, demanded a reward for this noble man.

“Dost thou not have prizes, noble, or you, merchant?”

But Andantian shushed him, and told him that he needed nothing. Still he is remembered, though, and his statue stnds in Eragonia to this day.

Jack’s Myth

In this Bob Dylan (not the 60s folk star) takes on the evoil Firehead…

Bob And The Firehead

A long time ago in Athens it was steaming hot day. King Angus was having a party until disaster struck. A knife came flying through the window and hit a guest in the chest, and he died.

Petrified, King Angus held his friend in his arms. There was a note saying, “We have come for you. Turn around. Firehead” They all looked around and there he was coming through the window. They all ran. King Angus looked back to the palace they had come from.

After the disaster they all went back to the building, but there was nothing left of it. So King Angus sent a letter to the king of the Greeks to come and kill Firehead and his minions. When King Mine heard about this he decided to send his son, Bob Dylan, to go and help Athens.

Chapter 2 The Arrival

It was a long time to get to Athens. There were all sorts of wild creature’s who were in the ocean like crocodiles, jelly fish. He finally made it into the castle but he was soon arrested for coming into Athens.

When King Angus saw that Bob had been arrested he said,

“ Let him go he is helping us to kill the beasts.” Before the day he went to find the beasts, they had a dinner that was delicious. Suddenly, the Firehead and the Firebyes hit the building.

When he saw the beasts the freaky god came down and scared the beasts away. Scared, King Angus was hiding behind table. Bob told him “ It was only a god.

Chapter 3 the objects

When King Angus calmed down the god said,

“ I am here to help you I am giving you a lamp which shows you the way.” Bob took the item and went back to his house. All night he was thinking what might happen when he went on his mission.

Then something struck the house. He had to react quickly before he died. As hard as a rhino, he pushed the door down and went to the palace.

On the way there he ran into the Firehead. He was hard to see.

Chapter 4 The finding??

On his way there he saw a goddess named Crawler. She was soft. She told him,

“ Here is a flying car to help you”.

He whispered “ Thank you”. As soon as she gave him the keys he was off and running. He had nothing to worry about because he had a lamp which showed him the way. It took him a long time to see the Firehead but he saw them come out. He looked whence it came from and it was dark as night.

The flying car went down a couple of metres away from the cave. He had to be careful what he did. He waited till the Firebyes came out and he jumped on one. Unafraid, Bob took his sword out and hit them all down like a tornado. Bob went into the cave. Bob mumbled, “ I am scared “.

Chapter 5 The Fight and the journey home!!!!

The Firehead was in his favourite corner in the whole cave. So Bob walked in the cave and held his sword and held it up high. The Firehead came storming out and came and hit Bob down. Bob got right back up and hit the Firehead in it’s weak spot. He walked out the cave and left the Firehead dead.

Bob made it safely home. But King Mine had shot himself.

Tom’s myth

Tom’s myth combines ancient story with modern technology…

SLASHEUS AND THE MONSTROUS SLICE

In the heart of Greece lies a small crowded village called Zerros, which had remained, calm and peaceful for over one hundred years. That was until a monstrous, cruel beast known as Slice terrorised the villagers and ruined all their homes and crops, sparing no lives.

Since, only one man had ever seen this foul creature and his descriptions and notes were written down in an old sacred journey, which belonged to young Slasheus’s father, ‘Serbeus the great’. It was now in the hands of Slasheus, his son. Brave and courageous, he was willing to follow in his fathers footsteps to defeat anyone or any thing that dare harm the village locals.

Once again, history had repeated itself and Slice has returned to slaughter the innocent village folk and destroy their livelihoods. Word of this terrible threat to Zerros and its people soon reach the ears of Slasheus and he set about preparing for battle. His beloved father betrothed to him his trusty sword and mighty shield to protect him from beasts of the underworld. However, there was one treasured weapon that he relied on more than anything else. This enchanted potion consisted of deadly poisonous gases, which would distort the vision and movement of the enemy, enabling Slasheus to slay the monster with ease.

CHAPTER 2

Slasheus sat on his cold straw bed thinking of ways to defeat Slice, then he remembered about his Father’s journal. Slowly opening the hard oak chest, Slasheus heard faint voices, they seemed to be of his Father. They were warning him not to attempt to fight this hideous creature. But Slasheus ignored all spoken words for he only wanted to avenge his fathers death, that was the only thing on his mind.

The day had arrived for Slasheus to battle to his death against Slice, saying,

“I cant back down now, I can do this for my father.” Slasheus went back to his home and started reading from his fathers sacred journal. It read,

“Slice is a foul, cunning beast who lives in the Sharian mountains. He is a deeply unpleasant phenomenon, with razor sharp claws which can extend to different lengths enabling him to slice his enemy giving him the name ‘Slice’. He also has a metal mesh netting strapped round his arm, which he fires out to trap and suffocate the enemy. As you can see Slice is a well prepared creature and he has even more weapons and armour. For example, inside his steel helmet is a heat seeking system, I have not a clue how far away an enemy can be detected from. However I do know that if you cover yourself in wet mud Slice will not be able to see you, and you will be hidden from the radar, giving you a chance to do a surprise attack from behind. Finally there’s one more thing you need to know about this revolting monster he has a three dot accurate aim gun strapped to his left shoulder, I estimated that it takes around 3.4 seconds for him to reload.”

CHAPTER 3

Slasheus was beginning to feel anxious but kept his nerve and read on.

“The final most important thing of all is his weak spot, directed not in his heart but in the centre of his thick scaly stomach……. Good luck thou this may be thy last desire.”

Slasheus prepared himself for his quest; leaving at dusk he hoped to arrive when the beast was asleep. Finally, on the morrow Slasheus became wary that Slice was awake and gradually getting closer. Cunningly he crept round behind Slasheus and scratched him on his back. Brave and fearless, Slasheus got back up and cut off Slice’s fingers, he bled with bright green blood but still he did not fall. Slasheus climbed rapidly up the nearest tree, however he was detected by Slices heat seeking system. As quickly as he could, Slasheus jumped down and stabbed the cruel monster right in the chest, but his cold metal sword snapped against the monster, just missing his stomach. With no sword to battle with Slasheus was forced to use his sacred deadly potion, thrusting his arm he threw the poisonous gas bomb directly at the creatures stomach……Taking his helmet as proof of Slices death Slasheus strolled home with pride and confidence…………knowing his quest was complete.

Jessica’s Myth

Jessica’s myth is a real epic with several homages to famous greek myths…

The girl who wished she wasn’t

King Ageas put his head in his hands and sighed,

“ Will no one come forth to make an attempt of slaying this foul beast?” He demanded to the crowd of gathered villagers standing before him. A lone voice rang and echoed around the great hall. Every person in the eerie room turned to a young person in armour.

“ I Aneas shall step forward to slay the Fuzine,” The small figure said eagerly.

“ Well,” the king croaked, dazzled by the confidence and determination the boy had, however he had hoped for a person perhaps with more of a muscular build and a lot taller. He knew now though that no one else would step forward as this boy had already volunteered. Although his mind was swimming with doubt that this man could ever bring peace to the land.

If you are truly worthy of fighting this beast then bring me back a single petal from the greatly rare white orchid, I simply can not allow another citizen to die tby the monster.”

It was said that no one had ever been able to collect the flower (however many that tried) although it was rumoured that it lay on the highest tip of mount Olympus. Everyone now was silent; all eyes were placed on the figure standing before them. Aneas agreed to the quest that lay before him!

Aneas travelled for many a day and many nights all the way to the highest peak of Mount Olympus to collect the petal the King most desired. Anxiously, he put his hand out to the petal and placed it carefully into his pouch. However, he did not know of the beast that guarded this flower and suddenly in one whoosh he was knocked off his sturdy feet and onto the rocky ground below.

Fear swept over him like grey mist settling on the cold, hard ground. As he looked up, looming over him stood a two headed …DRAGON! Even though he was more frightened than he’d ever been in his life he gave a cry of war and charged at the beast , his hands clasped so tightly round his weapon it started slipping from the sweat of his hand. Once again he was immediately brought down like a kitten against a tiger. But Aneas had great courage and bravery, so he did not stop until the beast was brought to its grave. With one last slice through the air the beast lay down in agony as its soul slowly and painfully left its dead body.

When Aneas laid the petal down before the king everyone congratulated him and he was made a well known hero throughout the land.

“Thou hast done well. Now I am sure you are ready and able to fight the monster,” king Ageas proclaimed though he hoped he covered up enough the fact that he really did have some suspicions about this young man would kill the great Fuzzine. However his thoughts were interrupted by Aneas’s reply.

“Thank you my lord, it is an honour to be serving under you.” He addressed the king confidently with a determined gleam in his sparkling emerald green eyes as stern and as steady as an eagle’s! The suspicions that the king had was that the boy never seemed to take his helmet and armour off, and the king felt odd when he looked into his burning eyes, he felt as though he was hiding something. Even though the villagers clearly could not see this and feel it, the king would not be forsaken.

The night before Aneas was due to head off along the road to fight the monster and bring peace and happiness to the land, he prayed to the goddess Ariana to come forth to help him. Sure enough that night the goddess spoke to Aneas in his dreams.

“Aneas I have brought gifts of luck to you and not only because you prayed and pleaded me for help. No, that would not have been enough to persuade me, but thou hast shown great courage and determination. As you know I am the goddess of that and I most definitely wish to help you greatly. My first gift to you shall be that I may only be of help to thee three times and three times only. My next gift to you shall be this bow this one in particular one will rarely miss when you mind is clearly on the thing you wish to hit! I also give thee a sword of sheer solid silver and the handle is made from the wood of the strongest oak. This gift is given because as you may know the Fuzine has tremendous speed and would outrun you within seconds. Well, with this sword if you inflict even the smallest of wounds, the Fuzines speed will stop and you will have the advantage. My final gift to you will be a small dove. This bird is one I have trained and at your command it will lead you to where the Fuzine lies,” Ariana said with a gentle voice.

Aneas woke with a gasp; the sun streamed though the windows making his eyes sting and water. Never before had he dreaded something this much and yet he thought that strangely this made him more determined to do it!

The journey took seven days and seven nights, getting more hungry and tired by the hour. Putting one foot in front of the other and not ever looking back, he wondered through the scorching sun and the thunderous rain. He felt as strong as an ox although his energy he felt was being drained out of his body.

Finally, after the long and hard travel, he reached the lair where the Fuzine lay. Inside the sort of cave like lair it was damp on the walls and dark and cold. The smell was awful and Aneas felt as though he was going to faint, it smelt of rotten fish and dried dead meat. Aneas crept through, the narrowness crushing ribs (even if he stood side ways!)

Suddenly, there was a flash of light and the next thing he knew the great Fuzine was towering over him. Gasping and spluttering, he took time to gather himself, thinking ‘come on, pull yourself together’. The beast was like nothing he’d seen before. Aneas closed his eyes not being able to bear the sight of its foul, menacing, red bloodshot eyes and its slimy blue goo oozing from its sticky feathers.

Just then his thoughts were interrupted by the voice of Ariana.

“The sword…The sword.” He grabbed the sword from hids belt and slung it at the monster. It only cut the beast by a few centimetres, but he knew it was enough. The great bird cried out in pain letting out an ear piercing screech so loud the Aneas had to clasp his hands over his ears. The monster swiped a ferocious claw at him, wounding him so badly he felt as though he was going to die. He summoned Ariana.

“Please you said thou shall help me three times only well, I ask you know to heal me.”

It was done. With one last arrow the beast was killed!

Later, when Aneas arrived back in his home village, he brought the head of the Fuzzine to the king. Only moments before people were swarming around him, thanking and congratulating him. But now he was being offered a reward for bringing peace to the land. His reply came almost at once as though he was expecting to be asked,

I want nothing more than your promise that if I take my helmet off that no harm will come to my family and myself. I also shall want you to let me serve in your palace as knight Lena”

Her wish was granted but the king demanded to know why she was to be addressed by the name of Lena. With that her helmet was removed to reveal…

A GIRL!

Abi’s myth

A tense surreal myth that draws on Life on Mars and Doctor Who is Abi’s composition.

One: In the beginning

“Silence will fall soon,” as an echo went around the dark silent room.

“Who’s there?” I said. But no one was. I turned my head to see what was behind me. But nothing was; well almost nothing, but just a small crack in the wall. I was all alone in an empty dark room. Then the crack in the wall started to grow and grow and grow and every second it did my heart beat grew with it. I could not take my eyes off it, it was too strong for me. Then i started to fall deep into the crack. There was no escape!

My name was Sam Tyler and this is the story of how I become a Greek hero.

Two: Where am I?

“Oh, my head.” I felt ill in a sort of way.

“What’s wrong Sam?”

“Who are you?”

“Don’t be silly Sam, you know my name is George.”

“But…but… you don’t understand I’m from here.” But George did not replay.

so he took me home, but I did not understand why I was here. So I decided to run far far away from this weird place at night. He showed me my home and I went inside. It was ok, but there was smoke all around me. I did not like it at all. It was not like home. As night came the sparkly moon came out. At last I could escape. It was a full moon so I could see well. I saw a foot path leading to the woods, So I ran and ran and ran. I did not stop and when I was there I saw a big gold box. I decided to step in the gold box. And then…

“Who are you?”.

Three: The king

“Take him to the king.”

“Oh no, here we go again.’

‘I’ve been expecting you!’ said the king. But I did not know why.

‘Why am I here?’ I asked

‘To slay the beast,’ replied the king

‘But im not a hero, I’m just an ordinary person.’

‘Well, thats what you think.’ The king turned around on his chair and gave me a sword, a helmet and a shield.

‘Do I really have to do this?’ I asked. ‘Am I really the one?’

‘Yes son, you are’ said the king

“Where do I find this beast anyway?’

‘You will get there the same way you got here, through the big golden box.’

I decided to take no notice of him and carry on with what I was supposed to do. So I set off. I went in the woods and there in front off me was a gold box

I went inside the box. Then I hard a voice, but I did not know what it was. I started to walk and there was a reflection of me when the crack was in the wall and I fell into it.

“Oh so that’s what it was.” I said.

“Yes it is you” replied a strange voice.

“Who are you?“ I asked. But no one answered. Then the beast came around the corner.

“I have been exspeting you.” Then he came crasing and bashing to me. Then I got my sword out AND…. Bang! Blood was everywhere and I was covered in it. The beast had left a note. I took the note and went back to tell the king BUT …

I could not do it because the box had gone and I was home.

Emily W’s Myth

Lots of speech and a whirlwind romance in this myth by Emily.

The story of Tomas

Long, long ago in a village called Lucaphon in Greece ,there was a boy by the name of Tomas. He had a father called Philip and a little sister called Sabrina. They had a King who grew sad because his poor country getting destroyed by the most horrid beast you could ever imagine.

Tomas heard that the King wanted someone who would come up and kill this horrid beast. Someone who was adventurous and would try as hard as he could. Tomas had always wanted to be a warrior and he knew this was his chance.

“Dad I am going up to the king Atheus’ castle because I want to slay that beast. This village has had enough bad luck and I want it to stop!”

“No son, you can’t. Not with your little sister’s 4th birthday coming up. If you’re not there she will never talk to me again.”

“Dad I’m going and I promise I’ll be back,”said Tomas.

Tomas went up to the king and asked for his permission.

“Thou thinks thou can slay this beast?”

”Yes I do.”

“Alright. I’ll give you six days. If you do not return we will presume you are dead”. “Thank you so much I promise I will not fail you, your Majesty.”

“Are you sure you can keep that promise?”

“Yes I’m sure, very sure I think.”

“Just go and take five of my knights with you”.

Thank you your Majesty”.

And take my boat with you too”

Right come on lets go and slay a monster!” cried Tomas.

They got on the boat and sailed to the island in front of them called Iribus. When they got there they tied the boat to a rock with some some rope. All the knights went to the boat to get their weapons. Meanwhile Tomas was near the opening of the cave, a beautiful goddess appeared and she said,

“Hello Tomas I have come to give you some gifts. A magic map that shows you the way and a magic sword that can chop through anything.”

Thank you, but how did you know?”

That I can not tell you. Follow me and thou can eat.”

“But what about my men?”

“Forget them”

But I cant!”

Fine, don’t come”

“NO, no. I’ll come, but not for long ok?”

“OK,” replied the Goddess. Tomas went with the goddess and he met the

most prettiest women he had ever saw.

I’m sorry I have to go now now but I’ll be back” said Tomas. Tomas dragged him self back to the boat and he and the knights had a little squabble.

“Where were you?”cried one of the knights.

“I got lost, alright! Now let’s just get some sleep NOW!”

The next morning they were all ready to set out for the big battle. Tomas grabbed his sword and map and realised that he only had four days left until he had to return.

“ Hold on, let me open my map. Right ,forward and then take a right.”

After that it got darker. They walked into a cave and all they could hear were loud heart beats. All of a sudden they turned round the corner and saw the most horrid beast. It had huge wings and huge horns and it had 3 eyes! And when it breathed, smoke came out of its mouth.

“ Right, we need a plan. All run out and distract him, then I will climb up him and chop his head off,” cried Tomas

“Ok” said one of the knights.

“Right, CHARGE!”

The knights ran out and Tomas climbed up the horrid beast and with one chop of his blade the head fell on the floor. But the knight didn’t know and were still clanging their swords at the beasts legs.

“ Knights stop! It’s dead”

“ Did thou kill it?”

“ Yes I did, NOW GET BACK TO THE BOAT!”

“ OK, OK. Stop shouting.” Tomas waited five minutes and then ran out fo the cave back to the place where he had some food.

When he got to the place and found the beautiful girl he asked her what her name was,

“It’s Sofia”

“Do you want to marry me?”

“Oh yes,” replied Sofia

“Good, come with me back to my boat and we will go to my home village.”

They sailed home with one day to spare.

“ He’s here, he’s really here!” cried one of the salesmen.

“ Yes I am and I need to see the king now.” So Tomas went to the King’s castle.

“Tomas, thou returns and who is this with you?”

“ We are engaged. Now let me go back to my home because its my little sister’s birthday.”

“ Fine, go!” said the king, “And take her with you”

“Thank you your majesty.” said Tomas

Tomas rushed back home and told his family about Sofia, and two weeks later they got married.

Catriona’s myth

Catriona’s myth features a hero called Mr Muscles. Don’t worry, he doesn’t clean sinks. This Mr Muscles slays monsters…

The Charging Beast!

A beast had arrived in our peaceful town and was wrecking lots of shops and houses. It was killing people and then eating them. The people of the town were homeless and frightened. King Aegeus wanted his slaves to put up signs for a hero to save him and the town before it was too late. A man called Mr Muscles volunteered to slay the mighty beast. Mr Muscles was very strong and had done something like this before. He was a thoughtful man and would like to save the town and his family before the beast wrecked the whole town.

The next day the king woke up and whilst having his breakfast there was a knock on the old castle door. One of his servants went and got it. Anxiously, the servant opened up the door. It was Mr Muscles coming to ask if he could slay the big mighty beast. The king was overjoyed that someone so soon had offered to slay the beast. The king said,

“Off you go. You most certainly can slay the beast because you are strong, healthy and I see that you have your own sword.”

So after half an hour when the king and Mr Muscles had finally stopped talking and Mr Muscles was given lots of food to eat and some magical objects, he went off to find the beast. After an hour of hunting the hero finally heard a big roar. Fearfully, Mr Muscles walked on. Eventually he came to the sleeping monster. He got his magical objects out that the king had given him. He was very excited to use them. The monster was big, fuzzy and had slother coming out of its mouth, but Mr Muscles was not scared. He kept on walking through the rustling leaves slowly.

Then, all of a sudden the beast woke up because he was asleep and he saw Mr Muscles! Then Mr Muscles pulled out his sword. It was getting late now so Mr Muscles went back home to tell his family about his first day fighting, but when he got home there were lots of music blearing away. What was going on? So he went inside to find out. Inside was a party to congratulate his first day of fighting.

The next day when Mr Muscles woke up there was lots of screaming, then all of a sudden there was a giant roar, so he quickly got out of bed and got dressed. But by the time he had got outside the screaming had stopped, so he went of to the king to check on him. The king was fine, so Mr Muscles headed off to slay the the mighty beast. Then he saw the beast. He pulled out his sword and started running, then the beast turned around and started charging so Mr Muscles ran forward. He had his sword in front of him. Then all of a sudden they were having a big battle. After one hour Mr Muscles put his sword up and jabbed the beast in the heart and the beast fell to the ground and died.

Then Mr Muscles ran back to tell the king and his family the brilliant news. When he got there and told the king the news he gave him £5000, Mr Muscles was very grateful. He rushed home and showed his family the money. When he got home his wife said,

“I am going going to have a baby.” Mr Muscles was over the moon. Soon the baby was born. They called the baby Jemima.

James VS’ myth

A cracking good story with an unusual way of killing an evil beast. James has drawn on several famous myths to create his own. Enjoy the story…

Andres and the evil Mojo

A long time ago in Helios there lived a fine young fellow by the name of Andres. Andres’ father King Callas was the island’s smart and wise ruler. One day a mighty beast called Mojo started attacking the kingdom of Helios. He took over the kingdom and every week he had to be fed 14 men and women (1,456 people a year) The people were chosen by pulling names out of a hat .Andres sneakily sunk his name into the hat. When King Callas pulled Andres’ name out of the hat he was shocked.

“There must be some mistake” the king exclaimed

“No Father, there is no mistake, Father. I am going to slay this evil beast and free the people of Helios.”

So his father watched in dread as his son, his own son gotready to go to the island of EVIL where Mojo lived. Before Andres set sail his father said to him,

“If you are alive then fly the green flag and if you are dead fly the red flag”. Scared, Andres set sail for the island of EVIL where Mojo lived.

When he arrived Andres was held in prison. While he waited to be taken elsewhere (to the entrance of the maze) a girl suddenly appeared through the shadows of the tall padlocked door.

“ I can help you” she said

“How?” Andres asked

“Ares has some magical gifts for you. I have come as a messenger for him,” said the mysterious girl. “But first you must defeat the evil centaur that rules Athens.”

So Andres travelled quickly to Athens where he was greeted by a gruff voice

“Are you Andres?” he asked

“Yes.” Andres replied politely

“We have been expecting you,” he shouted

“Where do I start?” he asked

“Go to the centre of Athens where there is a flower bed. sniff all the yellow flowers in the bed and the centaur will appear . He will be fiery mad.” Then he disappeared into the shadows

“Wait,, you haven’t told me how to defeat the centaur!” But Andres realized it was no use. He had disappeared.

So Andres travelled for countless days (well actually it was just a few hours, but Andres was overreacting). He finally reached the bed and it was beautiful; it was breathtaking; it would be almost impossible to sniff all the yellow flowers.

“I have to succeed,” he thought to himself. He sniffed the last flower and then the centaur magically flew down from the sky. And the gruff voiced man was right; he was flaming with rage he was also extremely ugly. He had 14 green massive warts spread across his face and peeling all over his legs and arms. When he landed on the ground the earth shook heavily and Andres fell to the ground, but what Andres didn’t know was the centaur could fly. He swung his blade aimlessly at the centaur it hit a yellow flower slicing it in half and the centaur fell heavily to the ground like it was hurt Andres suddenly realized what he had to do. He dodged attacks and cut through the flowers. After Andres had sliced all the yellow flowers the centaur fell limply to the ground in defeat .

Suddenly all was quiet ,there was a eerie glow and Ares (the god of war) quickly came into view.

“You have proved yourself worthy to me. Here are your promised gifts.” He held out his hand and in it he had a helmet, shield, sword and sandals.”

“Thank you Ares,” Andres said politely and he bowed.

Once he had received these magical gifts, Andres travelled back to the boat. Now he had to sail back to the island of Evil. He was held for another three days before he was taken to the entrance of the maze where Mojo lived.

Andres walked to the entrance of the maze and shouted “Hello!” It echoed off the walls and roof. Not everyone was eaten by Mojo, some people starved to death on the edges of the maze. He tied some magical string his father had given him around a firm rock at the entrance that would lead him to Mojo.

It bumped and it jumped across the rocky ground which was lined with human skulls and dry blood .Andres felt a shiver run down his spine. The enormously long string stopped at the foot of an enormous rock which, after the string touched it, turned into an ugly beast. It roared loudly and the skulls chattered noisily. Mojo swiped down with one of his muscular arms, Andres put up his shield to protect himself. Mojo’s arm hit the shield which turned fiery hot.

“OW” Andres screamed. Andres glanced down at his arm and it was badly infected Andres gritted his teeth, swung his sword and he sliced Mojo in half. He stood stationary still and then fell heavily to the floor.

Andres pulled the string and it led him back to the entrance of the maze and he set sail for home. He put up the green flag and his father heaved a sigh of relief. Andres was crowned hero of Athens and they had a big party to celebrate and he lived happily ever after.

Emily B’s myth

Emily’s story features a brave heroine…

The Deadly Angel

Chapter 1: The plague

Long, long ago in Ancient Greece there was a beautiful princess called Indigo. Unfortunately for her, a foul beast had spread a plague, and was killing everyone. Each night Indigo prayed to the gods to send a hero. All hope was lost until she decided to make a notice to see if any hero would come forth. One day she received a letter saying a man called Prosta had agreed to slay the beast. She was delighted to hear that someone would help her.

Chapter 2: The beast

In a dark labyrinth lived Deadly Angel, the most evil beast in the whole of Indagon ( the princess’ land), this was the beast Prosta had to had to slay with his sword ,shield and helmet. In the centre of the labyrinth there was a cave that was where the deadly angel lived. When you met the beast it was like meeting an unearthly creature and it was so horrible some people would die at it’s name (how bad is that?) some people tried very hard not to meet this terrible beast, but sometimes did not succeed! Now if you tried to avoid this beast you wouldn’t be able to get into town to go to the market (very annoying). Many tried to cut through the hedge to the path on the other side of labyrinth, but you would either get blinded or get stuck and eaten by the beast.

Chapter 3: The failure

It was the day Prosta had to slay the Deadly Angel, but of course he wasn’t scare (not). Just before he went he hugged Indigo. Soon Prosta found the Deadly Angel when he heard a noise coming from the cave, so he crept closer to have a look and he saw a poor villager being strangled to death . Prosta was so scared that he let out a scream. Suddenly the beast turned around and stared to chase Prosta around the labyrinth, but Prosta came to a dead end, then the beast started the killing process again .

Chapter 4: A hero at last

Indigo was not at all sad when Prosta didn’t come back because he was selfish and ungrateful so she didn’t care at all. Immediately Indigo went break the news to Prosta’s family .They also said that they weren’t upset either because they to thought that he was ungrateful and selfish .Indigo was so upset about not having a hero to slay the beast so she decided to send a letter to every man who could slay the beast . A few days later she got a reply from a man called Obligos saying he’d do the job, but by the time Indigo got back to him he was half dead . Suddenly Indigo had a good idea; she would slay the beast herself!

Chapter 5: The end of the plague

Indigo had all the stuff she needed to slay the beast but one of her slaves threw up all over himself because he was so worried about her, so she quickly cleaned him up and went on her way. Indigo was very worried because she was taking a lot longer than she wanted but she didn’t let that stop her so she quickly went on her way . Indigo was nearly there because she could see an old sign in the road,so she quietly went inside. Indigo was just about to enter the cave when Athena came down and gave her a invisible suit so she could not be seen and a silver shield to defend herself with . Indigo got in the cave and got the Deadly Angel’s attention. The beast turned round and ran after Indigo, but it could not see her so he shone his eyes at her. That was when Indigo held up the shield and the beast melted. So she quickly grabbed a pearl jar and scooped up the liquid and ran to the palace and gave the jar to the guards to look after for the night. Then the princess heard a noise; she was scared because it was the middle of the night. It was Zeus. He took the jam jar from her and took it to the land of the gods. The next night Indigo held a feast to celebrate the death of the beast.
